Last spring, we launched our Health For Every Child campaign in the wake of the pandemic. We are grateful for Uganda's swift response to contain the virus. The lockdown measures, however, created a tricky situation for children with disabilities. Their family members could no longer travel to get essential medications. So we launched a campaign to ensure these children get medical services for the rest of the year.
Right now, many lockdown measures in Uganda are still in place, including restrictions on travel. These have made it much harder for families to be able to access health care and medications. Nevertheless, we have worked hard over the last few months to deliver essential medications to the children with disabilities that we serve.
Thanks to you, and our great team on the ground, we’ve been able to deliver essential medications to 35 children in the community in the past 3 months. That’s over 450 doses of medications!
A highlight of two medical relief trips:
The impact has been amazing. Thanks to you, and our great team on the ground, we’ve been able to deliver essential medications to 35 children in the community in the past 3 months. That’s over 450 doses of medications!
Every family we see is extremely grateful for the support during this difficult time. In addition to medications, we've been able to deliver the encouragement cards many of you wrote during the campaign.
Some of the families that received medical relief. They were overjoyed.
Our therapy department was also able to resume some of their work a few weeks ago, as well. Rather than families bringing their children to our satellite clinics, we are going to them. Our physical therapists and occupational therapist have been visiting children one-by-one at their homes so that they can receive essential therapy. Parents are also being trained and educated on what they can be doing with their children between therapy sessions.
Our therapists went as far out as the border of Kenya to meet with families.
Thanks to your support, life change is continuing to happen.
Thanks to you, no child will be left behind.
Sincerely,
The Ekisa Team
